CSL offers mentoring programs for university students to make a difference inlocal children's lives (ages 5-18) throughout the academic year. We pair students with youth for mentorship, homework help, and special events
Big Buddies is a child-centered service program that reaches out to the community by providing positive role models for elementary school children from the ages of 6-10 (Little Buddies Program) and middle school children from the ages of 11-14 (Middle Buddies Program).
The College High School Alliance Mentoring Program and Service (CHAMPS) is a service program that provides high school students with a consistent college role model and friend to help them achieve their goals. Students will experience activities focused on introducing the college experience, learning and building life skills, and career exploration.
Jasper's Corner provides local elementary through high school students with homework assistance. The program is offered Monday through Thursday, at three locations, tutoring in almost all subjects from 1st grade through 12th grade.
Roots and Shoots is a community action and learning program of the Jane Goodall Institute. Through the program, young people map their communities to identify specific challenges their neighborhoods face. From there, they prioritize the problems, develop a plan for a solution, and take action.

If you enjoy working with kids in an academic setting or would like to become a mentor, we would love to hear from you! Students typically become children's program mentors and tutors to complete their CSI/CER graduation requirement, fulfill a work-study award, or are simply interested in working with children and want to be involved. Interested students must submit an application, interview, submit a background/ student conduct check, and attend training.
